Research Interests
My research uses genetic, genomic, bioinformatics and molecular breeding tools to understand the genetic regulation of grain quality traits in major and minor crops. I am particularly interested in characterising genes involved in the biosynthesis of important nutrient and anti-nutrient compounds in grain with the ultimate aim of using this knowledge to develop crops that are more nutritious. In addition, I am interested in the improvement and wider adoption of underutilised crops with the aim of diversifying global nutrition.
