examines EU-UK relations and the UK post-Brexit bilateral relations with European states.

The project was funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) under the (UKICE) from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2025. Its team members were :

Although ESRC funding has ended, 'Living with the Neighbours' carries on. Hussein Kassim continues to follow EU-UK relations and the UK's bilateral interaction with European partners. He is also working with members of the 'Observatory are currently working on an edited volume that examines how bilaterals with the UK are conditioned by the EU and EU-UK Agreements.

As part of those projects, Hussein Kassim organised multiple events, published commentary and analysis, and co-hosted with Cleo Davies four series of podcasts, including 'Books on Brexit', 鈥楪ood Neighbours? The UK and Europe after Brexit鈥�, After Brexit: What has changed?鈥� and 鈥楴egotiating Brexit: views from the Member States鈥�.
