We regret to inform you that the 2025 海角社区 Low Voltage and Systems Integration Symposium has been cancelled due to lower-than-expected attendance, largely attributed to the event鈥檚 location. While this was a difficult decision, we believe it is the most responsible course of action to ensure a high-quality experience for our members, exhibitors, sponsors, participants and speakers.

We understand this may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and continued support. If you purchased a ticket, please note that refunds will be issued automatically through Eventbrite in the coming days.

To our Exhibitors and Sponsors– we are incredibly grateful for your support and commitment, and we want to ensure you continue to benefit from meaningful exposure and networking opportunities within our industry. To that end, we would like to offer you an exhibitor booth at the same rate for our upcoming Joint Leadership Conference on October 23, 2025鈥攁 joint event hosted by 海角社区, MCAO, and CLRAO at the Toronto Congress Centre. This opportunity also includes complimentary event tickets, providing added value and access to a broader audience of industry professionals. Alternatively, if you prefer a refund, we will process that for you.

If you had booked accommodations for June 3rd and 4th, you are welcome to maintain your reservation and enjoy your stay, as the 海角社区 AGM will proceed as scheduled on Thursday, June 5th at 8 a.m. Should you have any questions or need to make changes to your hotel reservation, please feel free to contact Vincent Duong at vduong@ecao.org.

Moving forward, the Low Voltage and Systems Integration Symposium will be held every two years in Toronto, starting in 2026. We believe this approach will improve accessibility and offer greater value everyone.

Thank you again for your understanding. Please don鈥檛 hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

To respond to inflationary pressures, the ESA plans to increase wiring and licensing fees by 2.2% that will come into effect, on April 1, 2025.

This increase reflects the inflationary pressures that the ESA, and many organizations, are facing, while continuing to deliver on the ESA鈥檚 important mandate for sector and public education and invest in operational efficiencies and the digital strategy.

At the same time, the ESA will be reducing the fees for Solar Photovoltaic systems, greater than 10kW, by 25%; the fees for Entertainment productions will increase&苍产蝉辫;鈥&苍产蝉辫;C032 for Theatre, Film, TV and Video will be rising to $327 and C041 for Commercials will be rising to $170;  and ESA will be introducing a new fee for Deviation requests 鈥 which is an optional service for those considering deviations from the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.

These optional deviation requests will face a fee of $388 for the first two hours of review time, and then a fee of $194 per additional hour of review, reflecting the time and effort from ESA personnel, and the increasing complexity of these requests.

The ESA Fee Guide is in process of being updated, and will be posted prior to April 1 implementation at:

For clarity, the fee increase in October was a reflection of 2023 inflationary costs, and the fee increase in April is related to 2024 inflationary costs. Going forward, ESA will implement fee changes in-line with the beginning of the fiscal year, on April 1st, to provide predictability for the sector.

The ESA recognizes the impact that fee changes put on our stakeholder community and will continue to drive public value through our financial and operational performances. ESA will continue to find ways, like the ESA ON Mobile App, to drive cost and burden reduction in the sector.

Statement by 海角社区 Executive Director, : Empowering Our Members with Advocacy, Education and Expert Insights

For almost 80 years, the Electrical Contractors鈥 Association of Ontario (海角社区) has served and represented the interests of Ontario鈥檚 industry-leading, unionized electrical contractors. Over those many decades, 海角社区 has stepped up during times of challenge to support our members in their unfailing delivery of safe, skilled electrical and communications construction and maintenance services to businesses across Ontario.

We are closely following the threat of tariffs on Canadian goods by the United States, and the inevitable Canadian response. We know that this latest challenge to Canada鈥檚 contracting industry is causing concern and uncertainty among 海角社区鈥檚 550 members who employ over 17,000 skilled tradespeople across Ontario.

海角社区 will continue to support our members鈥 success through this latest challenge with expert communication and education, and through advocacy with our government, labour and industry partners. We welcome our members and other interested parties to visit our website鈥檚 new 鈥楾ariff Tracker鈥 section at www.ecao.org to access articles and updates by industry experts on the potential US-imposed tariffs and their impacts.

Today and every day, 海角社区 is committed to working to advance the interests of our members and support the success of Ontario鈥檚 growing and robust construction industry.
Graeme Aitken, Executive Director, 海角社区
