In memory of Caroline Gillespie
Colleagues, friends and students will be deeply saddened to hear of the death of Caroline Gillespie from Campus Cleaning Services.
Angela Cooke, Residence Manager from Campus Cleaning Services, said:
"It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our much-loved colleague and friend, Caroline Gillespie, who passed away peacefully at home in August following a period of illness.
Caroline was a dedicated Cleaning Assistant who worked within Campus Cleaning Services for 23 years, spending her time caring for and looking after Rootes Accommodation. Over those many years, Caroline became so much more than a colleague. She made countless friends and formed wonderful relationships with everyone she met, including the students she looked after.
Caroline had a truly special way of making people feel welcome. She was warm, kind and compassionate, always putting others before herself and making sure that everyone around her was okay. She had a heart of gold and a wonderful ability to make people smile, often without even trying.
There was never a dull day when Caroline was around. She was the life and soul of Rootes, bringing her own unique energy, humour and happiness wherever she went. Her sense of humour was second to none, and her funny phrases and infectious laugh were something her colleagues will remember fondly for years to come. Seeing Caroline at work could brighten even the hardest of days.
Caroline was always thinking of others. She was famous for carrying mints around and making sure everyone had one, and she would often bring in food to share with her friends and make sure nobody went without. These may seem like little things, but they were so very Caroline 鈥 thoughtful, generous and always looking out for the people around her.
She brought a special brightness to Rootes. Her warmth, kindness, humour and infectious smile became such a familiar and much-loved part of everyday life. For the many people who had the privilege of knowing Caroline, she leaves behind not only memories, but countless stories that will continue to make us smile.
Caroline will be deeply missed by her colleagues, friends, work family, students and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her presence made a difference, and Rootes simply will not feel the same without her.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Caroline鈥檚 family, friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time."
