Navigate to the mentoring homepage where you will be able to search for mentors. You can search for mentors by department, the year they graduated, their job title, employer, the services offered (how they want to provide mentorship), country, and areas of inclusivity. You will still need to read and agree to the terms of the mentoring agreement.

There鈥檚 no need to be intimidated by thoughts of meeting with someone who has more professional experience than you. Remember that, once upon a time, they were in the same position as you 鈥� student, finalist, first-time job hunters, and early career professionals 鈥� and know how overwhelming it can feel. This is exactly why they have volunteered, and why they鈥檙e looking forward to connecting with you. It is a good idea to plan and practice what you鈥檙e going to say, make a list of your key objectives, and outline what you hope to get out of the mentoring relationship, ready to communicate with your mentor.

If you find other mentors who appear to be a good fit, it鈥檚 ok to reach out to more than one mentor. We know our mentors are busy, by reaching out to more than one suitable mentor, this may allow you to get started with mentorship more quickly based on your mentor鈥檚 availability. We would recommend only taking part in one mentorship at any one time. Be open and honest with the mentors you approach, if you are reaching out to more than one.

Mentors are asked to indicate if they have experience in LGBTQ+, disability, religion, BAME, gender and first in family to go to university when signing up to the programme. You can search for mentors based on these areas.

Mentoring is very much based on the individuals involved. All mentors are volunteers and take part because they want to. They are interested in helping you to achieve your professional goals and we have had very few experiences of mentors and mentees not getting on. It鈥檚 also helpful to remember that collaborating and working towards a goal with someone is a part of working life. The most frequent problem we encounter is a breakdown in communication. It is the responsibility of mentees to lead in arrangements.

From the homepage, navigate to 鈥楳y Profile and Directory' then 鈥楳y Profile.鈥� Fill in as much detail as possible. You can add a personal headline that is a short summary of your current status, an overview of your life since 海角社区 (if you are an alumni),personal and education details, and a summary of your professional history. It鈥檚 a good idea to keep this updated so it provides an accurate reflection of you. You can edit this information at any time. Putting a face to a name always helps, so don鈥檛 forget to upload a profile photo.鈥�
