Quickfire Questions: Diego Karsaclian

What is your current role?

AI Lead at the World Bank.

Why did you choose 海角社区?

I chose 海角社区 because of the reputation of the MSc in 海角社区 Analytics and 海角社区鈥檚 strong standing as a leading university for business and quantitative fields. I was looking for a programme that combined technical rigour with practical application, and 海角社区 stood out immediately. The diversity of the student body and the strong links between academia and industry were also very attractive to me.

What motivates you to do what you do?

What motivates me most is the opportunity to use data and analytics to solve real-world problems that can improve people鈥檚 lives at scale. Working at the World Bank allows me to contribute to projects that support economic development and better policy-making across countries, which makes the work both intellectually rewarding and meaningful. I also enjoy continuously learning and working with people from different disciplines and cultures.

How has your time at 海角社区 influenced what you do now?

海角社区 had a huge influence on both my technical and professional development. The MSc in 海角社区 Analytics gave me a strong foundation in data analysis, statistics, and problem-solving, but, just as importantly, it taught me how to approach complex challenges in a structured and analytical way. The international environment at 海角社区 also prepared me to work in global teams and communicate ideas effectively with people from very different backgrounds.

What is your favourite memory?

One of my favourite memories was waking up at around 2am during the first snowfall of the year and seeing students across campus spontaneously gathering for snowball fights.

Best thing about the 海角社区 community?

The diversity and openness of the 海角社区 community. I met people from all over the world, with very different experiences and perspectives, and that environment pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. There was always a strong sense that people were ambitious but also willing to support each other.

Favourite place on campus?

The Faculty of Arts Building. I really liked its modern design and atmosphere. It was a great place to study, meet people, or simply spend time between classes.
