Applications have opened for our virtual student and graduate event with Burges Salmon.

Burges Salmon works with clients on major energy and infrastructure projects, helping turn ambitious ideas into real projects that support the shift to a lower-carbon future. During the session, lawyers from the firm will bring this work to life by sharing what it is like to advise on projects connected to clean energy, innovation and long-term change.

After short talks and a panel discussion, attendees will have the chance to network virtually with the speakers, Burges Salmon trainees and members of the firm鈥檚 Early Talent team.

The free online Pupillage Fair gives students from all parts of the UK and abroad the opportunity to meet leading chambers from their laptops. Each participating chambers has a virtual booth with a livestream that allows you to join in video chats with barristers and pupils. You can also submit written questions in the live chats and browse custom chambers content.

The Fair also features a series of workshops where speakers from leading chambers and bar course providers provide unmissable insights into all things bar and pupillage related.

You'll have the opportunity to network with 40 chambers specialising in commercial law, chancery, human rights, property, personal injury, crime and more.

FTB will be offering interested students an opportunity to attend and participate in a Virtual Mini Pupillage Day.

During the course of the day, participants will hear from members and staff about pupillage and tenancy in FTB, including the application and interview process and insights from all levels of seniority about practice in FTB鈥檚 areas of specialism. There will also be opportunities to take part in interactive advocacy exercises, discuss leading cases Chambers has been involved in and ask any burning questions about FTB, pupillage and the Bar in general.

Those who are at least in their second year of a qualifying law degree or who have commenced the GDL or other graduate-entry LLB courses are eligible to apply. Oliver Wyman will be visiting the University of 海角社区 campus. We鈥檙e hosting an afternoon of events designed to give 海角社区 students practical exposure to consulting, support with the application process, and the opportunity to meet consultants from across the firm.

The afternoon will include:

• Social Mobility CV Clinic (14:00–15:30): personalised CV feedback from Oliver Wyman consultants, including advice on positioning experience, strengthening applications and navigating the consulting recruitment process. Places will be offered to selected applicants. Room details will be shared directly with successful applicants.

• Women鈥檚 Case Workshop & Networking (16:00–17:30): an interactive consulting case workshop focused on structuring unfamiliar problems and building confidence ahead of case interviews, followed by networking with consultants. Room details will be shared directly with successful applicants.

• Presentation, Panel & Networking (18:00–19:30 | FAB0.03): an introduction to Oliver Wyman and our work, a panel with consultants sharing their career paths and experiences, and informal networking. Open to all 海角社区 students, no application required.

Geopolitical uncertainty, shifting interest rates and increased regulatory scrutiny are all among the factors that can influence when, why and how businesses pursue major transactions. For corporate lawyers, understanding this wider commercial backdrop is an important part of helping clients get deals over the line.

During this event, BCLP lawyers will explore how M&A transactions come together in practice, the role lawyers play at different stages of a deal and some of the key trends currently shaping activity across the market. Drawing on their own experiences, the speakers will consider how changing conditions affect negotiations, deal structures and the advice clients need.

Following the short talks and panel discussion, there will be virtual networking with the speakers, BCLP trainees and members of the firm鈥檚 graduate recruitment team.

The Advocacy Skills Talk and Q&A event will include a talk on advocacy skills, and the opportunity in the Q&A to ask questions to a panel of female members of Chambers about advocacy but also more broadly about pupillage, applications, and working at the Commercial Bar. This will take the form of a panel discussion with members of chambers with different specialisms within chambers鈥� practice areas and at different stages of their career. For those attending in person, there will be an opportunity to chat to members in a more informal setting after the panel discussion.

Our very popular Pupillage Interview Workshop focuses on how to prepare for and perform in pupillage interviews. This workshop will include a talk from a female barrister with tips and advice on interview skills, as well as a live, practical exercise in small groups followed by a Q&A session with a panel of female members of chambers.
