Gowling WLG Student ESG Essay Competition 2026
Deadline: 18 September 2026 at 6pm
The competition invites university students and graduates to engage with a topical ESG question. This year's essay question asks:
"To what extent are ESG standards and regulations becoming more fragmented and how should lawyers support their clients in responding to this shift?".
The winner will receive a week's paid internship (with accommodation if required) in our London office, working alongside our team of expert lawyers on a variety of ESG matters. During the internship, the winner will meet clients, undertake research, draft advice, and gain first-hand experience of what life as a lawyer at Gowling WLG is like.
Essays should be no more than 750 words (excluding references) and must be submitted in PDF format to ESGEssay@uk.gowlingwlg.com Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
Virtual Insight Series
Deadline: 23 September 2026
Join Covington's virtual programme designed to widen access to legal skills for all students, while offering a unique insight into a career with the company. Each interactive one-hour session will immerse you in the work of Covington's London office and give you the chance to develop your legal knowledge and skills.
Open to all students and graduates of any degree.
Reshaping Legal Services Conference - Poster Submission Opportunity
Deadline: 30 September 2026
We invite law students to submit a poster - an opportunity to showcase their research, innovative ideas, or projects to legal professionals and fellow students at the
in central London on 25 November 2026.
Your idea could be about Innovation, AI, LawTech, EDI, Consumer Protection, Ethics, Consumer Redress or something else.
The best posters will be invited to participate at the conference. There will be a public vote at the event, and the winners will receive a framed certificate.
Legal Horizons Interactive Programme
Deadline: 9 October 2026
The Covington Legal Horizons programme offers students the opportunity to gain first hand exposure to some of Covington's core practices in their London office. This opportunity is designed to equip you with the skills, insights, and connections needed to thrive as a commercial lawyer.
You should be on track for a 2:1 degree and have achieved ABB at A Level (or equivalent) and in your second year or beyond.
Covington Mentoring Programme
Deadline: 16 October 2026
The mentoring programme is designed to help talented socially mobile students step into the legal world with confidence, clarity, and connections. Whether you are the first in your family to attend university, have overcome significant challenges, or simply do not see many people like you in the profession, Covington are here to help you thrive.
Open to socially mobile students in your second year of a law degree or in your final year of a non-law degree.
Reshaping Legal Services Conference - Bursary Place Available
Deadline: 16 October 2026
Applications for a Bursary place at the event are now open! Students are encouraged to apply for a grant to cover travel (standard rail) and/or one-night accommodation and subsistence, up to 拢200 (including VAT). In return, we will ask students to provide a 600-800-word blog for our website, reflecting on the conference from their perspective. Alternatively, they can produce a vlog or podcast.
We want to invite students who can demonstrate that they have contributed to addressing the challenges in the legal sector outside of their formal studies and training.
Richard Drabble KC Essay Competition for Human Rights Law
Deadline: 18 October 2026 at midnight
This is an opportunity for students and aspiring barristers with an interest in pursuing a career at the Bar, specialising in public law and human rights law, to engage with current questions and challenges in the field.
Participants are invited to submit a 2,000 鈥 2,500 word essay addressing the following question:
To what extent does the development and use of artificial intelligence challenge the effective protection of the rights enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights, and is the existing legal framework adequate to address those challenges?
Discuss by reference to one article of the Convention or its Protocols.
A first prize of 拢1,000 will be awarded along with a mini-pupillage. Runner up prizes include 拢250.

Critical Lawyers at 海角社区 (CLAW)
Get involved with CLAW, an association run by 海角社区 Law School students aiming to provide a platform for accessing 'alternative' careers to commercial law.

Whether you have a busy schedule or lots of free time there are a range of 海角社区 Volunteers projects as well as external partners and charities to choose from. Each opportunity has different levels of commitment so if you can only commit for a few hours or want to volunteer on a weekly basis then we're sure you鈥檒l find something that is just right for you!
Short Term Mobility Mailing List
Over 1,000 students undertook a short-term mobility last academic year. This included short courses, summer schools, language course, international volunteering, work placements, online opportunities.
By signing up to the mailing list students (and staff) will receive priority notification of various opportunities, funding and discounted offers.
In-sessional English Classes
海角社区 Foundation Studies is offering In-sessional English for academic purposes this year, with classes running in each term. This programme is intended for registered international students and members of staff wishing to gain English language support.

The 海角社区shire Law Society: Junior Division
海角社区shire Junior Lawyers Division offers a supportive network of junior lawyers to share experiences, network and socialise with. Membership is available to students (undergraduate, LPC/SQE, BPTC, GDLR and CILEx), paralegals, trainees, pupil barristers, solicitors, barristers and legal executives (up to five years鈥 post-qualification experience).
Student Focus: Paid Questionnaires
Student Focus, in association with The Times newspaper, is the nationwide student research programme on graduate recruitment. Student Focus requires final year students specifically from 海角社区 - Finalists can earn 拢10 for each completed question - Questionnaires will ask about your job-hunting experiences - Results will contribute to how companies advertise graduate jobs to students in the future.
Become a paid Brand Ambassador for On-Campus Promotions
On-Campus Promotions are currently looking to hire students for Single and Multi Employer Brand Ambassadors for companies such as Unilever, Bank of America and Police Now.

The Forage
The Forage offers students work experience through flexible virtual simulations in various sectors, enhancing law and module learning.
There is no entry criteria and you will complete the experience in 5-6 hours and gain a certificate.
Developed with employers, this provides insight into organisational work, resembling graduate tasks. Ideal for postgraduates, fostering skills for diverse opportunities like insight days and employer-based work experience.

Lincoln鈥檚 Inn offers prospective students tours of the Inn to give them the chance to find out more about our facilities and membership benefits. We are happy to offer tours on both a one-to-one and a group basis.

LittleLaw Free Commercial Newsletter
We鈥檝e all heard the daunting phrase 鈥榗ommercial awareness,' however, there is not much clarity on how to develop this. LittleLaw is a FREE weekly 3-minute newsletter tailored specifically to the needs of law students, aiming to enhance their commercial awareness. The mission is to deliver the most relevant legal news stories in a concise and easily digestible format.
Mini Pupillage Grant Scheme
Mini-pupillages are a great way to gain work experience that can be used to help you decide which area of law you'd like to specialise in, as well as crucial work experience for pupillage and job applications.
Our Mini Pupillage Grant Scheme offers financial assistance to students wishing to undertake mini pupillages. Grants are intended to assist with the cost of travel, accommodation and clothing if needed. You do not need to be a member of the Inn to apply.
