External Public Engagement Opportunities

Below, we've collated rolling call-outs from some of our partners. These are all great ways to do some public engagement in interesting spaces with ready-made audiences.

For all of these opportunities, WIE can support you in developing your talk/activity and can lend you materials, if needed.

Coventry Libraries

We're working with Coventry Libraries to feed in fun, research based engagements to their regular events programme. They're open to crafts, trails and table-top activities for children and talks or activites for adults. Your activity could be about any topic, it doesn't have to be reading/literature related (although that's also welcome!).

Get in touch with our partners at Coventry Libraries at and .uk with your idea.

Caf茅 Scientifique

Caf茅 Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology. Sessions usually involve a short talk from a speaker before opening up for wider debate with the audience, and our contacts in the community who run the Leamington event are looking for speakers for 2025. Meetings take place in St.Patricks Irish Club, Adelaide Road, Leamington and start at 7.30 on a Monday evening. Further details can be seen

If you鈥檙e interested please email WIELink opens in a new window with a short description of what you鈥檇 like to talk about - they are interested in any STEM related topic. We鈥檒l pass these along to the organisers and put you in touch if they think it fits their programme.

The Pod

is a Coventry-based civic ecosystem working at the intersection of secondary mental health, social justice, food, culture, and community.
Our work is rooted in recovery and regeneration, creating the conditions for people, communities, and places to flourish. We bring citizens, academics, creatives, activists, and changemakers together, connecting different kinds of knowledge and experience to generate ideas, challenge established thinking and create new possibilities.
Our award-winning, plant-based Pod Caf茅 (Instagram: @the_pod_cafe) provides a public front door into this work, bringing food, people, and ideas together around a shared table.
We are keen to connect with academics who are curious about taking their thinking beyond traditional settings and into a live civic environment, alongside citizens, practitioners, creatives, activists, and other changemakers. Collaboration might take the form of a conversation, provocation, shared meal, performance, research enquiry, workshop, or something we haven鈥檛 thought of yet. If something here connects with your own research, practice, or interests, we鈥檇 really like to hear from you. Contact us at Christine.Eade@coventry.gov.uk
